My favourite thing about Winter is snow. Everything looks magical when a dusting of white covers the ground. When I haven't been keeping warm inside with a cup of coffee and tomato soup while writing my dissertation I have ventured out into the cold. First in my back garden and then my sister and I went driving around looking and the idyllic scenery around our hometown.

I took Miffy out into the snow, it is the cutest thing ever when he puts his nose into the snow and hopping around the garden.

Almost every time I have gone out in my back garden recently I have seen a Robin perched on a branch or the fence and finally I've had a camera in hand.

My sister took this one while I was driving.

Here is my little sister and I at the river near where we live. I wish it would snow for the whole of Winter, when it goes everything looks dirty somehow. If you're out in the snow remember to wrap up warm, drive safely and enjoy it.

Recently I have started to try and take better care of my skin, for the longest time I have used Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and I wanted to try out something different. I like to do a bit of research before I buy something and Antipodes kept popping up as a good skincare brand and after finding out what was best for my skin type which is dry/combination. Antipodes originates from New Zealand that have been certified organic and natural with ingredients from plant extracts. When using both products for the first time I was quite happy with how they made my skin feel but I wanted to give them a good old college try with them and have used both for 2 months now and I thought I would share with you what they are like

 Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser
Antipodes label it as a cleanser that reveals clean, clear and blemish free skin that will help grant you a healthy glow. It is most suitable for normal and oily skin, as I have dry skin myself I feel it would be suitable for people with mild dry skin because it did not tighten the skin afterwards or dry it out, it simply made it feel clean and look clear. Exactly what is says on the bottle, it also made it feel soft. However everyone has different skin so it might not be the same if you have more oily skin. I was instantly impressed and unless my skin was having a good couple of weeks it made it look really healthy. With no blemishes, and pores were minimised. It is a little bit pricey at £24.99 although worth it so I decided to use it as an evening cleanser especially because it is very good at removing make up so that I could make it last as long as possible without having to re-purchase it. Saying that a little bit goes a long way and I still have at the very least 85% of it left. For those of you with a Clari sonic I have read that it is really good with it but a wash cloth suffices perfectly. If you are in the market for a new cleanser I would recommend it

 Aura Manuka Honey Mask
For those of you who have dehydrated and dry skin, I think this is a must have for you. It is a deep moisturising, cleansing and anti-oxidising treatment, it is a mixture of everything good you need for your skin. To apply you smooth it over your face and neck and wait for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water. After it leaves your skin feeling soft, looking clean and hydrates it while making it smell of honey and vanilla. Antipodes recommends using it around 2 times a week or when needed but for me once a week is enough, I can't quite explain it but when your skin just feels exhausted or looks dull that it when I decide to treat it. I like to use it after I have showered and before I go to bed, it feels refreshed even the next morning I don't feel the need to moisturise. At £21.50 I think it is worth it if you have dehydrated or dry skin.

I think I have confessed a lot of love for this brand, I already have my eye on the Immortal Natural Sun Protection Face and Body Moisturiser for when Summer comes around so I think you will be hearing from me about that.

Are there any skincare brands that have wowed you recently?

I have seen this idea floating around on Pinterest the last couple of days; it looked like the perfect little project to try out this year. A lot of bloggers are doing challenges and projects every day in the year and I know I wouldn’t be able to commit because of a little thing that is taking up my time called graduating university. So this is perfect, I can take a few minutes every now and then to take part.

So here is the concept of this project. Start of the year with a jar, write down everything good that happens, happy memories or anything amazing you accomplish. Keep the jar throughout the whole year and then on New Year’s Eve open the jar and you can read all of the incredible things that have happened in 2013. The pessimist in me has a bad habit of thinking about the not so good things that have happened and over shadows what truly matters but not this year. I’m so excited to see what happens this year and I already can’t wait to read about it in a year, hopefully it will be overflowing with goodness.

Are any of you doing any projects or challenges this year?
